Barun Sobti on quitting Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon in 2012: I was always supposed to leave…

Barun Sobti finally spoke about his sudden exit from the hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon in 2012. The actor revealed in a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan that he was always meant to leave the show but the viewers’ reaction made it a huge deal.

Barun spoke about the most unplanned decision that changed his life, “That would be when I decided to pursue acting. I always knew it was tough, but I really didn’t know I would make it this far. It looks different from the outside but when you become a part of the industry, that is where you learn how things work. It is still working on names but there are truckloads of talent here. Even in shows when I see the one-day artist I feel he is so talented, he could be me in no time.”

Barun shared that he felt he was horrible in his first show, “You all would feel the same if you saw me in the first show. I was horrible in that show. I have never seen the worst act of anyone. I was a plastic dummy in the first show.”

Barun finally revealed the reason behind quitting Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon in 2012, “I had signed up for the show for just one year as I was sceptical that I would get bored quickly. So when the year got over they said we are making money and the show is working well so I continued and I left it after 9 months. I was always supposed to leave but the audience made it look like a huge deal.”

When asked about the insecurity of losing the fame, Barun quipped, “It doesn’t matter, that can come back with another show. My intention was to do finite stuff. At that time I wanted to travel, I had just gotten married and I wanted to travel with my wife. I had given a commitment of one year to the show but I gave 2 years.”
