After becoming a household name with Imlie, Sumbul Touqeer, last seen on Bigg Boss 16, is returning to the fiction genre with Kavya – Ek Jazbaa Ek Junoon. She will be seen portraying an IAS officerin the show. She says, “It’s easy to get typecast on television. I was being offered characters similar to the one I played in Imlie. So, I decided to wait for something different.
That’s when Kavya came my way. It’s interesting because the character is the opposite of who I am. She is more mature than me (smiles).”
Most recently, the 19-year-old actress was trolled for her educational qualification in real life in relation to her role as an IAS officer in the show. “Who says education is not important to me?” she asks, adding, “So many girls like me have a responsibility towards their families. That doesn’t mean I have quit my studies. I was pursuing commerce. However, I have decided to put it on hold and apply for a course in cinematography.”
Ask her if she ever misses going to college like a regular teenager her age, and she replies, “I often think about it. However, the way I lead my life and the happiness I get being on the set, everything seems worth it. While I cherished my time in school, I believe that sometimes, sacrifices need to be made to achieve our goals. Acting is my passion, and knowledge plays a crucial role in one’s personal and intellectual development.”
On the personal front, Sumbul’s father Touqeer Khan tied the knot with Nilofer, a divorcee with a daughter, last month. The actress shares, “It is great. My family is complete now and is like a regular household. We have a mom and a younger sister. I am grateful for everything.”
