Zain Imam, who was last seen in TV show Fanaa: Ishq Mein Marjawan which ended in 2022, recently posted pictures on Instagram and wrote about his fitness journey. For a year, Zain took it easy and that affected him on various levels. But he is glad he has managed to bounce back now. When we reached out to the actor, he said, “As actors, we go through a lot of stress and anxiety when it comes to work.
And during this process, we lose focus and don’t look after our health. After Fanaa got over, I made a conscious decision to stay away from TV, and focus on web and films. I have acted in a few web shows, but since I wasn’t doing TV, I was not focused on looking good because I was not working everyday.”
Zain further added, “I lost focus and used to binge on good food all the time. I was never a gym person, would occasionally run or go for long walks. I stopped that too. I gained six kilos. I also have a sweet tooth and gave into my mithai cravings. In addition to not feeling good, I felt lazy, lost the energy to do things and was mostly at home. It was a very laid back phase and now I realise I should have never reached there.”
Sharing his fitness regime, Zain said, “I went in for a combination of strength training and kickboxing to reduce weight. I also stopped eating rotis in the evening. I made it a point to not miss my workout routine. I am glad that after three months, I have achieved my fitness levels and things are looking bright now.”
Zain, who has kept away from TV, hopes to bag meaty roles on OTT. He said, “Just like it is difficult for TV actors to do films, similarly, web show makers also have certain ideas about TV actors. So, even after working for a decade in TV, when I get an offer for a web project, I send my auditions, but don’t mention my TV background. It is sad, but that’s how it works. Secondly, casting guys are making a bank of auditions with actors and choose to send a few of their favourite actors’ auditions to makers. TV actors are trained and they also work hard and just to dismiss them because they are overexposed, is not fair.”
