Ashi Singh, who became a household name after her stint as Naina in Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai and was last seen as the new Yasmin in Aladdin — Naam Toh Suna Hoga, has been finalised to play the protagonist in Shashi and Sumeet Mittal’s next untitled show. The makers have finalised Shagun Pandey, who has featured in shows like Tujhse Hai Raabta and Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, to play the male lead opposite Ashi.
Informed a source associated with the show, “The story revolves around an exceptionally unconventional girl, played by Ashi. The storyline and her journey will be an inspiration to many people her age. We have worked with Ashi and Shagun in Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai and Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye respectively. Both are talented and professional and fit the bill perfectly.”
While Shagun didn’t respond to our calls and text messages, Ashi told us, “I haven’t received any official confirmation, neither have I signed on the dotted line yet. So, I can’t comment on this at the moment.”
In a previous interview with ETimes TV, talking about staying positive during the lockdown, Ashi had said, “I am not going too much out and I have been at home. By God’s grace all my family members and I are safe. It gets boring. I agree sitting at home, but we have no other option and if we have to be safe we have to be indoors. I am someone who loves to go out, work. I don’t have the habit of being stuck at home because I have done daily soaps so I am used to working. Last year, as the lockdown phase was new, I still got productive, it’s not that I am not now, I still am. But it’s kind of affecting my mental health. I am trying my best to be productive and not let the negativity creep in or affect me. I am trying to look at the brighter side.”
