Was he upset initially when he got to know that his character Samar would be dying on the show? “No, I did not feel bad about that. My character connected with viewers and I had worked hard on it because I stepped in after Paras Kalnawat exited the show. And everyone was unsure about the audience’s reaction to the new Samar. But I put in a lot of effort and the makers also wrote my character so well that it helped me.
It was a good phase and I think Samar’s sudden death on the show shocked people because I received a lot of messages. People are definitely missingSamar in Anupamaa.”
He admits that he misses playing the character. He shares, “The bond that Anupamaa and Samar shared was much appreciated by people. I miss playing Samar because I had grown attached to the character and my bonding with Rupali Ganguly mam was great off screen too.”
There was buzz recently that Sagar was in a relationship with one of his childhood friends after she posted a birthday wish for him. Ask him about it and he says, “There is no truth to these rumours. I am single and focused on my career. She is just a good childhood friend. She is my neighbour and we have grown up together. She is also a family friend. So, obviously, there is bound to be affection like friends. But beyond that, there is nothing. I am not dating anyone and I am single.”
So what would his ideal woman be like? “I have not thought about a life partner. I am very young and want to focus on making a career in Mumbai. It has been six years of working as an actor. I like to meet people and have many friends but haven’t thought of dating anyone or don’t need a companion in my life. I am quite happy with my life right now.”
